Politisches Statement
IDEEN STATT IDEOLOGIEN
Als Pragmatiker versuche ich, weiten Abstand von Ideologien aller Art zu halten. Von den extremen von rechts und links sowieso. Aber ich brauche auch kein pseudo-philosophisches Geschwafel über das Konservative an sich oder die verklärte Beschwörung von Sozialromantik. Wenn etwas gut ist, wird es mich überzeugen, auch ohne daß ich mir’s durch eine ideologisch verzerrte Brille anschauen muß. A propos Überzeugen: Überzeugter Fan des Grundgesetzes bin ich. Überzeugter Anhänger der freiheitlichen und zugleich wehrhaften Demokratie, des Rechtsstaats und der sozialen Marktwirtschaft. Ich bin dankbar, in Freiheit zu leben. Eine Freiheit, die nicht nur auf dem Papier steht. Das Deutschland von heute ist weltoffen und tolerant, bunt und lebendig. Ein Land, in dem jeder nach seiner Facon glücklich werden kann. Und darum liebe ich dieses Land. Mein Patriotismus ist von heute, nicht von gestern. Er ist nicht schwarz-weiß-rot, sondern schwarz-rot-gold. >>> ZITATE VON NELSON MANDELA ”During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. Mandela wurde schließlich „nur“ zu lebenslanger Haft verurteilt und saß bis 1990 im Gefängnis. Es war ihm schließlich vergönnt, für seine Ideale zu leben und sie zu erreichen.) *** “I watched, along with all of you, as the tens of thousands of our people stood patiently in long queues for many hours. Some sleeping on the open ground overnight waiting to cast this momentous vote. South Africa's heroes are legend across the generations. But it is you, the people, who are our true heroes. Die Fernsehbilder von den stunden-, manchmal tagelangen Warteschlangen vor den Wahllokalen haben sich mir ins Gedächtnis gebrannt. Schwarze und Weiße, Inder und Farbige, geduldig vereint in dem Wunsch, ihre Stimme abzugeben für eine bessere Zukunft ihres Landes. Ich werde nie verstehen, wie man in einer Demokratie einfach achtlos auf sein Wahlrecht verzichten kann.) *** „We have triumphed in the effort to implant hope in the breasts of the millions of our people. We enter into a covenant that we shall build the society in which all South Africans, both black and white, will be able to walk tall, without any fear in their hearts, assured of their inalienable right to human dignity - a rainbow nation at peace with itself and the world. (...) Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world. Let freedom reign. The sun shall never set on so glorious a human achievement! God bless Africa!“ (aus der Antrittsrede als Staatspräsident 1994. Es folgte eine Zeit der nationalen Versöhnung, die nach Jahrzehnten der Apartheid, des Hasses und unvorstellbarer Verletzungen einem Wunder glich. Trotz immenser Probleme, vor denen das Land steht, ist der Geist der „Rainbow Nation“ bis heute ungebrochen.) *** “I am nearing my end. I want to be able to sleep until eternity with a broad smile on my face, knowing the youth, opinion-makers and everybody is stretched across the divide, trying to unite the nation.” (vor Studenten der Universität Potchefstroom 1996, damals 77 Jahre alt. Heute ist Mandela 90. Möge er mindestens 100 Jahre alt werden. Dieser Mann und sein wundervolles Land haben es verdient.) |
